Katie is an experienced junior in Children Law and the Court of Protection

Katie has led juniors in care cases where there were vulnerable parents facing serious allegations of neglect and injury of a child. Katie can offer approachable and pragmatic legal representation for  clients.  She will work hard to represent the interests of clients whilst maintaining objectivity to enable clients to see the bigger picture when confronted with challenging legal matters.

Katie is frequently instructed on:

Care proceedings

Acting for Parents accused of serious  physical or sexual abuse  and /or with mental health issues and learning disabilities.

Cases cover representing parents for issues of non-accidental injuries,  fabricated or induced illness (FII), Forced Marriage Protection Orders ,  Female Genital Mutilation Protection Orders and challenging placement and adoption orders.

Acting for grandparents and other family members

Acting for the Children’s Guardian

Private Law Children Proceedings

Cases range from international abduction, relocation abroad and within the jurisdiction, assisting family members and grandparents, seeking protective orders, acting for children through their rule 16.4 Guardian and securing contact for parents in contested private law cases.

Financial Provision and Divorce

Katie accepts instructions on financial provision and divorce.

Court of Protection

Katie has appeared in the Court of Appeal on a case concerning non-recognition of marriage and inherent jurisdiction stemming from  capacity and best interests proceedings. 

Katie has been led on a case covering  reporting restrictions and  the relation  to the exercise of rights under Article 8 (family life) and Article 10 (freedom of expression) in the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) This   case involved   a child who had been the  subject of ‘end of life’ best interest proceedings.  

Acting for children of parents with capacity issues, power of attorney issues and deputy issues.
