Ayesha Hasan examines the legal status of Muslim marriages in the UK, and explores their validity and recognition in this country. The article explores the consequences of Nikah only marriages, and the loss of ability to make financial claims under MCA 1973,  providing an insight into case law in this area and questioning whether the time has come for Parliament to tackle this issue.
