Monica Nayyar joined 3DJB in January 2025 and brings a wealth of experience and insight to her role as a family law barrister, with a particular interest in Public and Private Law work.

Having been called to the Bar in 2004 and with over a decade spent in the Children’s Social Care legal teams of Local Authorities, Monica is uniquely placed to understand the whole spectrum of childcare work.   Monica has in-depth experience of cases involving vulnerable Parties on account of their learning needs, mental health difficulties and/or their identified neurodivergent needs; deprivation of liberty; substance misuse and addiction difficulties; domestic abuse; neglect; and non-accidental injury cases.

Monica is renowned for her attention to detail and her empathetic and collaborative approach to advocacy. Clients regularly commend her ability to navigate emotionally charged situations with sensitivity, creating a supportive environment for those she represents whilst robustly representing their interests.  She understands the anxieties that lay parties often experience when involved in the court process, providing reassurance and clarity at every stage.

Monica has appeared at all tiers of the Family Court and is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for her clients, drawing on her extensive knowledge of the legal landscape and her genuine passion for helping families.

Other Interests

In her spare time Monica enjoys reading and is a keen amateur artist.  Outside of her practice, Monica actively engages in community initiatives aimed at promoting access to justice.  Monica is a volunteer for MK Act (a domestic abuse charity) and the Helena Kennedy Foundation.
