Joanne joined chambers as a tenant in October 2024 following the successful completion of pupillage and is available to take instructions in all areas of family law, with a keen interest in Financial Remedies.
At 3DJB, Joanne has represented some of the most vulnerable clients and has assisted them to secure protective orders for themselves and their children. Equally, Joanne recognises the importance of everyone being treated fairly in the court system and welcomes instructions from parents who find themselves overlooked within proceedings. Joanne has successfully challenged false allegations of abuse, had contact arrangements reinstated and has pursued findings akin to parental alienation.
Before coming to the Bar, Joanne spent 3 years as Legal Adviser to Family Magistrates across London. Within this role, Joanne often presided upon up to 6 FHDRA hearings a day in the Legal Adviser only court. Joanne regularly advised the court at urgent Directions Hearings, DRAs, Fact Finding Hearings and Final Hearings. Joanne also trained as a specialist in the Reciprocal Enforcement of Maintenance Orders (REMO).
Joanne has routinely led and delivered Judicial College training to Magistrates on a range of family law including private law applications (Section 8, SGOs and Parental Orders), public law applications (Care, Supervision and EPOs) and more general matters such as McKenzie Friends, domestic abuse and case preparation.
Joanne also has experience working in family law solicitors for both a sole practitioner and a nationwide firm which will help her to anticipate the needs of her clients and those instructing her in due course.
