## WOMEN IN LAW EVENT 7 OCTOBER 2024

This was the second year of what is going to be an annual event organised by The Girls’ Network. The event is sponsored by Barristers Chambers and Solicitors Firms.

3DJB is proud to be a sponsor of this event. Georgia Fineberg, Elizabeth Wark and Judith Maxwell attended on behalf of 3 DJB as mentors for the day. Their role being to mingle with the students answer any questions and promote discussions in an informal manner while sitting with the students.

Those attending were from a number of different schools and were aged between 16 and 19.  They fully engaged with the activities of the day and were not shy in asking questions both of the speakers and the temporary mentors.

Speakers at the event were from both branches of the profession and with a full range of speakers from pupil barristers and a trainee solicitor to a Judge of the High Court.

It was noticeable that everyone told a story of some failure in their attempts to qualify as a Solicitor or Barrister and the message was loud and clear from all the speakers “don’t give up-keep trying make as many contacts with the legal profession as possible and keep asking questions”.

The stated aims of this event were to make a career in law less exclusive and show the different pathways to a career in law. In this the event clearly succeeded and as one of the sponsors we, at 3DJB, look forward to both sponsoring and attending this event in the future.
